JTG recruits students who are at risk of not graduating and making a smooth transition into work. They are selected for program participation based upon their individual desire and need for program services. Participants possess such "barriers to success" as:
- Economic disadvantages
- Excessive school absences
- Basic skills deficiencies
- Low performance on the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program achievement tests
Participants routinely exceed the national
JAG standards of 90 percent graduation rate and 80 percent rate of moving into post-secondary education, the military, or a full-time job within twelve months following graduation.
