Reading Partners is a volunteer-based program that assists students (PreK-4) in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in acquiring reading skills and increasing their enjoyment of literature.
The Need
- If a child has not learned to read by the end of third grade, he or she is at risk for all future academic achievement, for high school graduation, and for successful employment.
- At least 75% of today’s jobs require at least a ninth-grade reading level
ORIENTATIONS:
There will be a Reading Partners Orientation for new volunteers every Thursday in January from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at PENCIL, 421 Great Circle Rd, Suite 100. Contact Ann Johnston to sign up at 242-3167 x 232 or
