Reading Partners
Reading Partners is a volunteer-based program that assists students (PreK-4) in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in acquiring reading skills and increasing their enjoyment of literature.

The Need
  • If a child has not learned to read by the end of third grade, he or she is at risk for all future academic achievement, for high school graduation, and for successful employment.

  • At least 75% of today’s jobs require at least a ninth-grade reading level

Volunteer Opportunities

  • One-on-One Readers - spend 30 minutes a week providing individual reading assistance
  • Classroom Readers - spend 30 minutes twice a month reading aloud to a classroom of students
