
Student Writers Showcase 2010 will be offered to Middle School students, grades 5-8. This writing competition complements the Metro Schools Language Arts curriculum, encourages creativity and provides recognition for student work.
Teachers submit original student work among eight literary categories: Expository Essay, Personal Narrative, Children's Story, Poetry, Short Story, Song Lyrics, Sports Writing, Snapshot Writing. The entries are judged by professional writers and English professors throughout the community. In the spring, 1st, 2nd, 3rd-place and Honorable Mention winners will be announced at an awards ceremony. Students will recieve certificates and cash prizes. First-place winners' entries will be published on PENCIL Foundation's website.
