Student Writers Showcase 2011 will be offered to Middle School students, grades 5-8. This writing competition complements the Metro Schools Language Arts curriculum, encourages creativity and provides recognition for student work.

The entries are judged by local professional writers and English professors. In the spring, 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-place and Honorable Mention winners will be announced at an awards ceremony. Students will recieve certificates and cash prizes. First-place winners' entries will be published on PENCIL Foundation's website.
Made possible in part by Gannett Foundation/The Tennessean and by gifts to the Nashville Alliance program fund through the ONE Nashville campaign.
